Portland’s July 4th fireworks were postponed Tuesday due to rainy and wet weather.

The city said they are rescheduled for Wednesday and will go off at about the same time, at 9:15 p.m., on the Eastern Promenade.

The fireworks will be launched from the East End Trail, which will be closed from Cutter Street to the water treatment plant from 6 a.m. Wednesday until deemed safe by the city (estimated for around 11 p.m.).

Food trucks will be available Wednesday on the Eastern Prom Roadway. A full list of street closures is available at portlandmaine.gov.

The rescheduling comes amid a spate of rainy and wet weather. According to the National Weather Service, Portland saw more than 5.6 inches of rain in June – far above a typical rainfall of 3.77 inches for the month.
