The town of Falmouth is gearing up for the transition this fall to an automated curbside waste collection system.
Town-owned trash and recycling carts, required for the specialized trucks, will be distributed to residents at no charge in late October and early November.
The town worked with neighboring communities in a joint bid process to purchase the approximately 10,000 new trash and recycling carts needed. The total cost to the town of about $600,000 will have no impact on taxpayers, according to the town. It received a $25,000 grant from The Recycling Partnership to help fund the project and will rely on uncommitted fund balances for the rest.
