A second Hannaford Supermarket will open in Scarborough at 7 a.m. Saturday at 417 Payne Road and Route 114, formerly the site of Shaw’s Supermarket.

The 58,000-square-foot store will employ nearly 140 full- and part-time associates, according to a statement on the company’s website.

It also will emphasize convenience for customers, including grab-and-go meals, a hot-and-cold foods bar, grocery pickup, and delivery, a full-service pharmacy, and nearly 20 self-checkout registers.

To celebrate the grand opening, Hannaford will make $10,000 in donations to the Scarborough Food Pantry and the South Portland Food Cupboard.

The supermarket also will offer a variety of special giveaways throughout October, including the opportunity to win a $1,000 Hannaford gift card.

Headquartered in Scarborough, the supermarket chain operates 187 stores in New England and New York, including one in the Oak Hill area of Scarborough and another nearby beside the Maine Mall.
