As I looked into moving back to the Portland area in 2018, Kate Sykes was one of the first and friendliest faces to welcome me. The more I’ve gotten to know Kate, the more I’ve come to appreciate her passion or improving the living conditions of Portland residents and her dogged work ethic, especially when it comes to our housing crisis and the work required to build an environment that ensures those who work in our city can afford to live and thrive in our city.
As a city councilor, Kate will work to support our growing and diversifying population by expanding neighborhood child care programs and universal pre-K. And she will prioritize building permanently affordable housing for all income levels to help end our immense housing crisis. As a city councilor, Kate Sykes is just what District 5 needs.
