Charlotte Louise (Stevens) Rowe

RAYMOND – Our beautiful, loving mother, Charlotte Louise (Stevens) Rowe, sadly passed away at home on Oct.11, surrounded by her family. She lived a long and happy 90 years.

Charlotte was born and raised in Bethel, Maine to Clyde and Bertha Stevens on May 12, 1933. She graduated third in her class with high honors from Gould Academy, after graduation she was hired at the school as an office secretary.

Charlotte lived in Mexico, Rumford, Portland, and then moved to Raymond in 1968. She had many friends and was a well-loved member of the Raymond community, where she raised her family and lived for 55 years.

Charlotte was an active and dedicated member of the community, being involved in many groups; including the Raymond Village Community Church, where she once served as a Deacon and taught Sunday school. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and volunteered for the Women’s Auxiliary and the Raymond Fire Department. She taught 4-H while her family was young and was also a Girl Scout leader for 28 years.

Charlotte became the infamous ‘Avon Lady’ and sold AVON for nearly 55 years.

Charlotte was still active in her Friendship group of 50 years. She enjoyed tap dancing in her 50’s and 60’s and participated in line dancing classes up until recently. She loved riding her 3-wheel bicycle and hosting the annual family reunion each summer.

Charlotte absolutely loved to be outside! You could often find her chipping ice away in her walkway in the winter and tending to her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens in the summer.

One of the things she looked forward to most each year, was camping with her family every summer, sitting by the campfire, playing games, swimming, boating, and dominating the cornhole boards.

Charlotte babysat all her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed every one of them, she would never pass up an opportunity to attend one of their sporting events or dance performances.

Charlotte was predeceased by her husband Albion, brothers David and Paul Stevens and sister Christine Ulrickson.

Charlotte is survived by her children, Ronald Blake and wife Robin of Brownfield, Pamela Hartig and husband Ingo of Raymond; Linda Nichols and husband Stephen of Naples, Wendy Burbank and Roger Griswold of Cumberland, Diane LaPierre of Raymond; stepchildren, Beckie Merrick and husband Chris, Lesa Miller and husband Barry all of Pennsylvania, Nathan Rowe of Portland; sisters, Beatrice Hicks of Gardiner, Florence Walker of Bryant Pond, Cheryl Young and husband Malcolm of Bethel, sister-in-law, Janine Stevens of Connecticut, brother-in-law, Roy Ulrickson of Mechanic Falls; grandchildren, Jarrod, Erica, Andrew and wife Maggie, Victoria and husband Andy, Julia and husband Jordan, Bernd, Amanda, Jordan and wife Alicia, Bella, Jacob, Hailey and husband Jerry; great grandchildren, Dylan, Valerie, Cameran, Cooper, Colton, Cason, Brooklyn, Marley, Neilia, Penelope, Marcellus, Lowen and Hugo
