A New Hampshire man died Wednesday night when police said he drove his pickup truck into oncoming traffic on the Falmouth Spur.

Raymond Giard III, 54, of Nashua, was heading east on the wrong side of the road at 8:10 p.m. when he crashed head on into an SUV driven by 49-year-old Charles Jack of Poland, state police said. Jack suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries. First responders pronounced Giard dead at the site.

Police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The crash took place on the ramp areas on the east end of the roadway, which connects Interstate 95 with Interstate 295 and U.S. Route 1.

This is Falmouth’s second fatal wrong-way crash this year. In May, two people were killed after Nancy Ezhaya, 72, mistakenly drove onto a northbound off-ramp and headed south on I-295.
