BURLINGTON, Vt. — Hot weather that has swept into northern New England has broken records in Burlington, Vt., and Concord, N.H.
The National Weather Service says Concord hit 94 on Friday, beating the old record of 93 on the same date in 1987, while Burlington hit 91, beating the old record of 90 in 1999.
In Maine, the mercury climbed to 91 in Portland, but it was short of the record high of 94.
Montpelier, Vt., tied its record high of 86 for the date.
The heat is going to be lingering for another day or two. Forecasters say it could hit the 90s again on Saturday and Sunday in parts of the region. It’ll be cooler on the coast.
