PORTLAND — Congresswoman Chellie Pingree will be the commencement speaker at the University of New England’s graduation ceremony.
Pingree will also be awarded an honorary degree at the May 19 ceremony at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland.
The university, which has campuses in Biddeford and Portland, plans to award about 1,250 associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees at the ceremony.
It will also award a doctoral degree to Theodora Kalikow, the president of the University of Maine at Farmington. Kalikow is retiring in June after 18 years at the school.
