Shameful! Vicki McKenney called the police so they could intervene and help save her husband, Stephen McKenney, from committing suicide. Instead, they end up being the one to kill him.
Clearly, this young, 25-year-old deputy, with only two years’ experience and a whopping “week of training on dealing with people in crisis, including those who have a mental illness,” was not experienced enough to be put on a call of this nature.
Shooting a distressed, depressed human being when being called for help is simply not the answer. Seriously? One week of training? One receives and is required to get more training than that to answer distress hotlines and abuse hotlines.
