Camden Hills — Maddie Wayne knocked home a pair of goals, including a second-half tally to seal the victory as Brunswick downed Camden Hills 3-1 in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference high school field hockey action on Thursday.

Dragon Shea Sullivan opened the scoring less than five minutes into the contest off a helper from Lea Scrapchansky. Wayne followed with her first goal when Kelsey Sullican set her up for a 2-0 lead that was carried into the half.

Camden Hills’ Capri Buck cut the deficit in half with a goal, but Wayne, assisted by Shea Sullivan, scored with seven minutes remaining to put the Windjammers away.

Defensive back Erin Coughlin had a solid game, sending the ball up the field to open up scoring opportunities for the Dragons (5-8). Maggie Folsom and Rosie White were also a solid part in stopping scoring drives and moving the ball with big hits.

Brunswick outshot the Windjammers, 16-11, and held a slight edge in penalty corners, 7-6.

Dragon goalie Ainsley Harrower made eight saves in the win.

Brunswick hosts “Battle of the Bridge” rival Mt. Ararat on Tuesday at Ryan Field at Bowdoin College on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Hannah Groves had two goals and an assist, and Natalie Anderson chipped in a goal and two assists as the Falcons improved to 10-2-1 Western Maine Conference action in Freeport.

Alexa Koenig added one goal and one assist in the win, with Amelia Farrin finding the back of the net once.

Anderson scored first at 18:46 with the assist to Koenig.

Gray-New Gloucester scored at 17:27, as Jaida Patterson finished.

Koenig scored before the half off a corner from Groves.

In the second half, Farrin made it 3-0 with 15:59 remaining, followed by Groves scoring her two goals, both assisted by Anderson.

Freeport goalie Katelyn Rouleau had two saves, while Patriot netminder Mackenzie Baston made 13 saves.

The Falcons close the regular season on Wednesday at home against Greely (6 p.m.).

Morse 2

Paige Willis scored both Shipbuilder goals as Morse downed Waterville at McMann Field in Bath.

Morse improved to 6-7 and visits Maine Central Institute on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. to close out the regular season.

Mt. Ararat 2

Holly Temple scored the game-winning goal to power the Eagles to a KVAC win over the Vikings at Bowdoin College.

Brea Holtet assisted on Temple’s goal, and Wyley Fitzpatrick finished a Temple setup for the second Mt. Ararat (8-5) goal.

The Vikings failed to penetrate the Mt. Ararat defense as the Eagles held the visitors to no shots on goal in the first half. Oxford Hills managed to get through four shots in the second frame, with Emma Lapreziosa turning them away.

Girls volleyball

BRUNSWICK — Brunswick/Mt. Ararat dropped a four-set match with Gardiner at Brunswick High School.

The Dragons are 4-8 heading into this upcoming Thursday’s home match with Falmouth (6 p.m.).

Gardiner captured the win with set scores of 25-15, 13-25, 25-10, 25-23.

Brunswick/MTA was led by Kassidy Dixon (five aces, 11 digs), Calla Hladky (six digs) and Chloe Coombs (five aces, two kills).

Boys soccer

RICHMOND — Dakotah Gilpatric’s hat trick had the Bobcats off and running to the East-West Conference win Thursday.

Dan Stewart added a pair of goals for Richmond (6-3-1), while Cole Alexander also scored.

Kyle Underhill-Tilton made two saves to post the shutout.

James Hathaway stopped 11 shots in goal for Rangeley (2-5-1).

Richmond hosts Vinalhaven on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Girls soccer

RICHMOND — Caitlin Kendrick scored on a penalty kick and Abby Johnson added an insurance goal to lead the host Bobcats to the E-WC win.

Liz Johnson made one save for Richmond (8-1-1), while Amber Morrill stopped nine shots for Rangeley (5-3-1).

The Bobcats host Vinalhaven at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

GPC 1

Madison Waterman scored twice as Pine Tree Academy rolled to a Class D South win over Greater Portland Christian at South Portland.

The Breakers improved to 5-4 and hosts Temple Academy on Oct. 15 at 4 p.m. The Lions fell to 1-9.

Sarah Delaware also scored for Pine Tree, which led 2-1 at halftime.

Maddie Gant scored with an assist from Courtney Spaulding midway through the first half for Greater Portland Christian.
