James Waterhouse (“Letter to the editor: Would Mike Michaud put Maine deeper into debt?,” April 14) asks if Mike Michaud will spend us into debt because the federal government is spending so much.
I believe if Waterhouse looks at where this money is going. A huge part of it is going to pay off the debts from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
I think Michaud is very capable of running a smooth, debt-free government. He would, and hopefully will get to, make much wiser decisions than our current governor.
His experiences in Washington and as Maine Senate president give him excellent qualifications to do the job well.
