SACO (AP) — Police say they will not prosecute the Maine man who shot a New Hampshire man to death, saying the shooting was self-defense.

Maine State police say 54-year-old Michael Burns came to Saco on Sept. 30, 2017 looking for sex after answering a Craigslist advertisement. The Portland Press Herald reports police say Burns got into an argument with a resident of a Saco home and went to his car and armed himself with a knife.

A man who lives at the Saco home shot and killed Burns during a confrontation.

Officials would not release more details, and have declined to release the name of the shooter because he will not be prosecuted for the death. Authorities could still press charges related to other aspects of conduct that night.
