FREEPORT — Freeport High School field hockey defeated Gray New Gloucester 7-3 in Western Maine Conference play on Friday.

Abby Smith scored with 27:22 left, Sydney Ambrose added an unassisted goal four minutes later, and Megan Peacock made it a 3-0 contest with 14:58 remaining.

Freeport’s Dayze Gaulin scored unassisted with 6:27 left, and in the second half, Olivia Bubar scored two goals and Dani Foster one.

The host Saints frustrated the Greyhounds in Mountain Valley Conference play on Saturday, but Lisbon received a goal each from Sarah Craig and Hanna Jordan to improve to 7-0.

The Eagles talled two goals less than two minutes apart for a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference victory on Saturday at Augusta.

The Rams led 1-0 at the half on an Arika Brochu goal, but the Eagles tied the contest when Micaela Mitchell scored with 14:21 left in the second half. With 12:25 remaining, Caitlin LaFountain completed the comeback, giving Mt. Ararat (4-2 and scheduled to host Oxford Hills on Tuesday) the lead.

Mt. Ararat held an 18-6 shots advantage and a 10-5 edge in penalty corners.

LEWISTON 3

In KVAC action Saturday morning, Kelsey Dumond tallied two second-half goals as Lewiston improved to 5-1 with a victory over Brunswick.

Samantha Clark scored the first goal for the Blue Devils.

Brunswick goaltender Sydney Escoe was busy with 15 saves.
