The Kennebec Estuary Land Trust (KELT) is offering free children’s programs, Hidden in Plain Sight, at the Patten Free Library in October. The four part series will offer nature themed stories and activities about organisms commonly found in Maine but not often studied closely.
Kids 4 years old and up are welcome to join KELT’s Education Coordinator, Becky Kolak, on the Thursdays in October from 3:30 to 4:30 pm. Children will explore the structure of seaweeds, discover the life cycle of fungi, learn about the environmental significance of unassuming lichens, and investigate the unique lives of Maine’s insect eating plants.

The programs take place in the library’s Children’s Room and parents are welcomed and encouraged to take part in the activities. No registration necessary!
