RICHMOND

Rescue workers responded to a vehicle rollover on a slippery Route 201 in Richmond on Monday evening, although no one was injured in the crash.

Richmond Fire Chief Andrew Pierce said the crash occurred near the Gardiner line at about 6 p.m., so Gardiner police and rescue responded with Richmond Police Department.

Pierce said his department responded to provide traffic control. The road had turned to ice, Pierce said, causing a Ford 250 pickup truck to slide into a ditch and roll onto its side. No one was hurt, according to Pierce.

Just up the highway, Pierce said, a second pickup truck skidded off the road.

Police closed the road to traffic for about 20 minutes so crews could remove the pickup trucks, and the Maine Department of Transportation was called and responded to treat the road with salt.
