BATH

Travelers on Route 1 Saturday may have been stuck in traffic or detoured after a trailer carrying crushed rock flipped over and spilled its load in the roadway.

No one was hurt in the crash, reported at 9:37 a.m. on Leeman Highway just before the Congress Street overpass.

Bath Police Lt. Robert Savary said the vehicle was traveling north on Route 1 when the dump trailer in tow began to sway and then flipped over.

The Maine Department of Transportation was contacted and cleaned up the crushed rock, Savary said. Traffic was diverted during the clean up.
