PORTLAND — Bud Holloway’s goal less than five minutes into the third period helped the Manchester Monarchs to a 2-1 win over the Portland Pirates in Game 1 of an AHL Atlantic Division semifinal tonight at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
John Zeiler also scored a third-period goal for the Monarchs.
J.P. Lamoureux made 28 saves, and Derek Whitmore scored the lone goal for the Pirates.
Jonathan Bernier made 22 saves for Manchester.
The best-of-seven series continues with Game 2 at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
