    Top 10 Seniors

    Emily Kitt Pinette daughter of Lawrence Pinette and Linda Maloy, is valedictorian and president of her graduating class. She played a role in student government throughout high school, serving as class president for three years. She was an active member of the Student Council and served for two years as president. Her senior year, she was elected vice president of the National Honor Society, of which she was a member for two years. Also, as a junior, Emily traveled across the pond to Europe with the International Club, and was awarded the Phi Betta Kappa Award, the Bowdoin Book Award, and Rotary Club's Student of the Month. She participated a great deal in community serve as a member of the Interact Club, and also helped out in her town's elementary school as a library volunteer and student mentor. Her senior year, Emily was appointed editor of the Yearbook Committee, and was honored as the MPA's Outstanding Student Citizen She will be pursuing a liberal arts education at Bates College in the fall. Emily would like to express gratitude to her older brother, Ben, Class of 2012, her loving parents, and her three cats, Pumpkin, Pickle and Midnight.

    Gabrielle Card has attended Old Orchard Beach High School since her freshman year. She played on the school’s field hockey team for three years, and the tennis team for four. This year she is one of two captains on the tennis team. Gabrielle also played the trumpet in the Jazz Band for two years and in the marching band her senior year. She participated in the school’s mentor program for her junior and senior year, as well. In addition to her extra-curricular activities, she was inducted to the National Honor Society this year and is an active member. Gabrielle has shown excellent effort throughout her high school career and worked hard to obtain her place as ninth in her class. Gabrielle’s plan is to join the United States Air Force after graduation.

    Olivia Noelle Dubois is graduating third in the class of 2013 from Old Orchard Beach High School. She was an honor student who received the Brown Book award her junior year and won the Journey into Writing award as well. She was a member of the National Honor Society. She was also part of Interact, International, Yearbook and Math Club. She participated in varsity soccer serving as captain Junior and Senior year, basketball serving as captain Senior year, and softball serving as captain Junior and Senior year. She was an all conference player for soccer and softball. After graduation she plans to attend Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. She is daughter of Ross and Ericka Dubois.

    Brandon Ellis is the son of Matthew and Lisa Ellis. Brandon graduated tenth in his class. He has earned Honors or High Honors throughout high school. Since sophomore year he has supported himself by working at McDonalds of Scarborough, and advanced his position to become a manager. He has been active in his community by helping out people in need at the Old Orchard Beach Salvation Army as well as the Portland Salvation Army. Brandon also attended Biddeford Regional Center of Technology to study auto mechanics. He will be attending Southern Maine Community College to become an automotive technician.

    Cristian Koenigs is the son of Mark and Lee Koenigs. He was president of National Honor Society, inducted his junior year and a three-year representative of the Student Council, elected treasurer his senior year. He also participated as a member of the Interact Club and Oceana Yearbook staff for his junior and senior years. Cristian played for the boy’s soccer team for his first three years and was a member of the track team for all four years. During the fall he played alto-saxophone for the high school’s marching band and was a member of the jazz choir. In the fall, Cristian will be pursuing a major in Architecture, at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

    Jaclyn MacDonald is a senior at Old Orchard Beach High School. She has been a member of the High School Marching Band since she was in seventh grade, and earned the drum major position for her senior year. As a freshman, she earned varsity status for the soccer team, which she maintained over the next four years. After joining the tennis team her sophomore year, Jaclyn was named captain for the 2012 season. For the 2013 season, she played the number one seat for the entirety of the season. Academically, Jaclyn has maintained a high A-average GPA, earning her a spot in the top ten. Jaclyn would like to thank her parents, Tami and Scott MacDonald, and her sisters Jeanne and Jaimie, for their unwavering support and love. Jaclyn will be attending Husson University pursuing a career in Physical Therapy.

    Sean McDermott is a three-year starter on the baseball team who values the sport as much as his academics. Achieving Honor -Roll repeatedly throughout his high school career he has proved himself as a scholar. He plans on attending USM in the Computer Science program this fall. He would like to think his mother, father, brother and the rest of his family for being there for him throughout high school.

    James Strohm is an intricate part of Old Orchard Beach High School and the Old Orchard Beach community. Over his High School career he has been a key part of the National Honors society as well as the Football, Basketball, and Baseball teams. Jimmy was named the Western Maine Conference Senior student athlete of the year for Old Orchard Beach High this year and will be attending the University of Maine at Orono in the fall to pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering.

    Mae Emmaline Toohey is the daughter of Cathryn and Peter Toohey. Mae played varsity soccer and softball throughout high school. She also was an avid member of the National Honor Society, Math Club, and Vice President of the Interact Club. Mae enjoys spending her free time reading, writing, and spending time outdoors, from surfing to hiking and camping with her family. She has also spent much of her free time volunteering, her favorite being serving up dinners at the Preble Street Soup Kitchen in Portland. Mae will be attending Emerson College in the fall and will be majoring in Journalism. She hopes to enter the Peace Corps upon graduation from college.

    Amy Lynn Twohig is graduating fifth in the class of 2013 at Old Orchard Beach High School. She participated in Interact Club, International Club, Yearbook, and Math Club. This year, she was inducted into the National Honor Society. She played varsity soccer and softball, ranking All-Conference in both all four years and All-State in soccer her senior year. After graduation, she plans to attend the University of North Carolina at Wilmington to study Accounting, International Business, and Spanish. She is the daughter of John and Karen Twohig.
