Steve Reed was a clerk at the Motel 6 in Portland in 2002 when he recognized two guests who were the target of a nationwide manhunt after the body of an infant was discovered in their abandoned pop-up camper. Reed, whose own daughter was dying at the time, was credited by police with saving the life of the young baby the couple was traveling with. Reed is publishing a book about the impact the experience had on his life.
