Kate Hall takes a break at the Westbrook High School track before a workout with her personal trainer. Hall has won several New England championships in track and field and is the reigning high school indoor champion in long jump.
Hall runs ahead of the pack while friends and family watch from the sidelines during the 100-meter race of the Western Maine Conference track meet at Lake Region High. Hall won the race with a time of 11.8 seconds.
Hall races with her brother Camron, 4, at their home in Casco. Hall, a home-schooled high school senior, will attend Iowa State to compete in track and field.
Hall completes a 20-foot 5-inch long jump at the Western Maine Conference track meet in Naples. She set a state record with her 20-4 3/4 at the Class B state championship meet.
Personal trainer Chris Pribish stretches with Hall before she works out at the Medically Oriented Gym in South Portland. Pribish has been working with Hall since she was in seventh grade, after he helped Hall's hamstring recover after an injury. "Chris has helped me a tremendous amount, and I'm improving every season because of what he does for me," she said. "He's always coming to my meets, he's been a huge part of this, and become one of my closest friends as well."
Hall checks her blood sugar between events at the Western Maine Conference meet. Hall is diabetic and has to regularly monitor her blood-sugar levels, especially on days when she competes.
Hall wears an OmniPod insulin pump on her arm that enables her to run and compete without the interference of a traditional insulin pump, which attaches at the hip and uses a tubing system to deliver insulin.
Hall and Tayla Robbins work at the Ice Cream Dugout in Windham.
Jennifer and Eric Hall's daughter has become one of the greatest Maine high school athletes of all time.
During the outdoor track season, Hall would frequently run on the Westbrook track in the morning, work out with her personal trainer Chris Pribish at the MOG in South Portland, attend her regular high school track practice at Lake Region High School, and then go to work at the Ice Cream Dugout in Windham.
