Family, union and company officials wait outside the Seafarer’s International Union hall on Sunday in Jacksonville, Fla., as an intensive search resumed in the southeastern Bahamas for a U.S. cargo ship with 33 people on board.
The 790-foot cargo ship El Faro was en route to Puerto Rico when it ran into Hurricane Joaquin last week. In its final message Thursday morning, the crew reported the vessel had taken on water and was listing 15 degrees. The ship, captained by Michael Davidson of Windham, had three other Mainers aboard.
