Classmates from Portland High School's class of 1945 gather at the Ocean Garden Restaurant in Gorham on Friday to celebrate their 70th high school reunion.
Anna Paolilli and Abe Fineberg, classmates from the Portland High School class of 1945, celebrate their 70th reunion Friday at the Ocean Garden Restaurant in Gorham. Paolilli said she was put in charge of organizing the annual gathering because she was the only one with a computer.
When he was at Portland High School, Richard Catir was a member of a popular band called the Catir Brothers. He later became a building supervisor for the school district.
Each guest at Friday's reunion got a name tag clipped to stapled-together sheets of paper with the lyrics to the school song and an updated list of deceased members of the class.
K.P. Foley recalls how World War ll drew many boys from Portland High School off to the war in the 1940s. Foley worked all through high school and went on to a 42-year career with the telephone company.
