    OCT. 26: Geeta, a deaf-mute Hindu woman now in her early 20s, looks out of a van leaving for an airport in Karachi, Pakistan, to depart for New Delhi. Geeta was around 11 years old when she inadvertently wandered over the border from India to Pakistan, and became stranded. Since stumbling into Pakistan, Geeta had lived in a home for lost and abandoned children, say officials at the charitable Edhi Foundation, and her long search for her family captivated the public after a hit film with a similar plot was released. Geeta arrived home in India and was reunited with the family she had identified from photographs.
