Snow squalls are headed for Maine, followed by another cold blast

The first system won’t produce much accumulation, though squalls might affect driving conditions. A second system brings more snow and frigid cold.

Forecasters expect snow to accumulate Sunday afternoon into the evening before a blast of Arctic air arrives Tuesday.

A wide-reaching winter storm will bring significant impacts to more than a dozen states from Saturday through Monday.

The home has been deemed unsafe after a tree destroyed its chimney and damaged the electrical system.

Ski mountains in Maine closed or warned skiers about rainy conditions Monday, although colder temperatures and snow are expected later in the week.

By the afternoon, forecasters at the National Weather Service said snowfall had ended for most of Maine, save for Down East.

By Wednesday, about 2 or 3 inches of snow that fell the previous day will still be around, though it may be a bit less white.

Wind gusts of 40 to 60 mph led to power outages in central and eastern Maine, but there was less flooding than anticipated from Wednesday’s storm.

A wind and rain storm increasing in intensity throughout the day could cause flooding and power outages in Maine.
