BRUNSWICK — Dozens of arborists and tree workers from around New England are coming to Maine to test their tree-climbing skills.

The New England chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture is holding its annual tree-climbing competition Saturday at Bowdoin College in Brunswick.

The contest tests the abilities of tree-working professionals to climb ropes up trees and perform various tasks. Competitors in one event extricate a “dummy” from a tree to demonstrate their skills in removing an injured person from up high.

The winner of the regional competition advances to the 2011 International Tree Climbing Competition, to be held in Sydney, Australia, in July.
