BOSTON — The Boston Celtics appear to have all the pieces in place for next year and that could be enough to get Doc Rivers to come back for another run at an NBA title.

Rivers’ contract expires at the end of this season. But he says he is leaning toward returning for another year with the Celtics, who were knocked out of the playoffs by the Miami Heat on Wednesday night.

Boston’s Big Three of Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett are all under contract for next year. Pierce has three more years on his deal and Rajon Rondo has four.

Shaquille O’Neal also has a year left on the two-year deal he signed at the veteran’s minimum, but it’s not clear whether he will be back after sitting out most of the last three months with leg injuries.
