The 23-year-old Cape Elizabeth man who was killed in a shooting Tuesday night in Farmington died from a gunshot wound to the abdomen, according to the state Medical Examiner’s Office.

The death of Andrew Holland is being ruled a homicide.

Results of a toxicology test could take more than a month to be released, said Brandy DesRosier, secretary for the medical examiner.

Holland was shot with his friend’s handgun in an apartment just blocks from the University of Maine at Farmington, Maine State Police have said.

Ryan Ouimet, 23, of Coltsneck, N.J., has been charged with manslaughter in the shooting.

Ouimet was released from jail Wednesday on $10,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Franklin County Superior Court in Farmington at 2 p.m. next Wednesday.

Both men graduated from UMaine-Farmington in May.

Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said Thursday that police are evaluating the autopsy results and continue to investigate the shooting.
