LACONIA, N.H. – Billy Bereszniewicz scored on a two-out single by Tim Quinn in the top of the ninth inning to lift the Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide to a 5-4 win over the Laconia Muskrats on Friday night in their season opener and first-ever New England Collegiate Baseball League game.

Old Orchard Beach trailed 4-3 until Stephen Wadsworth led off the top of the eighth with a double and scored on a single by Marcus Way.

Bereszniewicz finished with three hits and scored three runs, and Mike Fransoso drove in a pair of runs for the Raging Tide.

Old Orchard Beach faces the Sanford Mainers today at The Ballpark. 

NEW BEDFORD 3, SANFORD 1: Trevor Edwards tied the game with an RBI double in the top of the third and drove in the go-ahead run with a solo homer in the fifth to lead the Bay Sox past the Mainers in a season opener at Goodall Park.

Paul Kronenfeld had an RBI double for Sanford in the first inning. Mainers starter Tripp Davis gave up two runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out four in five innings.

Tom Marra allowed one run on four hits over five innings to earn the win for New Bedford. Greg Terhune followed with three scoreless innings of relief, and Sam Dodge closed out the game with a hitless ninth inning to pick up the save.
