I would like to write how ashamed I am of our nation at this time.

Constantly, “pride” is expressed for violent military activity in places like Iraq where enactment of U.S. policies brought nothing but wasteful destruction, suffering to innocents and painful death to all sides. (Please read about recent developments at Fallujah.)

I would like to express my own “pride” solely in the wisdom demonstrated by Sister Megan Rice, age 84, recently thrown into prison. Her “crime” was expressing words written in blood.

Christian words encouraging peace need to be dramatic enough to actually draw attention to the evil of the endless preparations our nation is making to enact unthinkable violence on a nuclear war level.
