It’s simply a myth that independent Eliot Cutler is a “spoiler” in the 2014 gubernatorial race. Eliot came within 2 percent of beating Paul LePage in 2010 as Libby Mitchell lost ground.

Democrat Mike Michaud is losing ground now. Therefore, it is imperative we vote our conscience and not just use our vote as a strategy to elect an implied second-best candidate. It’s dangerous and promotes a culture of fear in our broken political system.

Voting our fears will only exacerbate the process. Instead, let us listen to the debates, do our research and elect a governor who has solid experience and practical, workable plans for Maine.

Eliot Cutler doesn’t take special interest money or endorse negative ads. He is independent and able to work across the aisle with a vision to make Maine better. I hope you will join me in voting for Eliot Cutler on Nov. 4.
