Charlie Papazian, known as the “father of the modern homebrewing movement,” will appear at a rally Wednesday at Maine Beer Co. in Freeport.

The event, which runs from 6 to 8 p.m., will include a VIP brewery tour, sampling, prizes and gifts, including a commemorative glass.

The rally is one of a series held by the American Homebrewers Association to promote local breweries and connect with homebrewers in the area. Also appearing will be Dan Kleban, co-founder of Maine Beer Co., and several members of the Brewers Association board of directors, including representatives of Brooklyn Brewery in New York, Ladyface Ale Companie in Agoura Hills, California, Free State Brewing Co. in Lawrence, Kansas, and Bell’s Brewery in Kalamazoo, Michigan. (See a complete list of the “celebrity” craft brewers who will attend and RSVP for the event.)

It’s only for current members of the American Homebrewers Association, but nonmembers can join online or sign up for a discounted member rate at the rally.

Maine Beer Co. is located at 525 Route 1.
