A bullet was found embedded in a second-floor room at the Courtyard by Marriott hotel at 321 Commercial St. on Friday night. It appears to have been fired from outside the hotel because there is a bullet hole in the room’s window, according to Portland police.

Police said they are investigating the bullet report, which was made by the two guests staying in the room Friday night. There were no reports of any shots fired in the area.

Police said they are trying to figure out the trajectory of the bullet, which entered the room through a window on the Commercial Street side.

Lt. Robert Doherty said it does not appear that the two people inside the room had been targeted.

No one was hurt and the hotel, which opened last year, remains open for business, police said.
