The Richard Boyd Art Gallery on Peaks Island features a solo exhibition of work by artist Julianne Garvey beginning May 1.

Garvey, of Lewiston, works in a variety of media. Her current portfolio of paintings includes a selection of works in watercolor and mixed-media of scenes inspired by the beauty of coastal and inland Maine. Her paintings reflect her observation of daily life and natural surroundings, and vary from landscapes to seascapes and figurative works.

Garvey studied art at the University of Georgia and later graduated from the College of William and Mary in Virginia.

A reception will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on May 7 at the gallery. The exhibit is free and on view between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily through May 30.
