HERMON – Maine state police say they have arrested a Massachusetts man who had 600 oxycodone tablets he intended to distribute in Penobscot County.
Authorities say 26-year-old Alex Rios of Lawrence, Massachusetts, is charged with aggravated trafficking due to the amount of the oxycodone that was seized.
Members of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency say they stopped Rios on Thursday just off Interstate 95 in Hermon, after a six-month investigation.
They say Rios is also charged with importing scheduled drugs.
Authorities say the street value of oxycodone is about $43 per tablet, with the total seizure from Rios having a street value of about $26,000.
Rios is being held on $50,000 bail. It was not immediately known if he has a lawyer.
