If Question 3 passes, Maine women would no longer have fast access to a gun to protect themselves. Neighbors with a friend in danger could no longer quickly sell them a gun. They would be forced by Michael Bloomberg’s millions to find a gun shop willing to process the state background check.
To the gun shop owner, that means pulling a clerk from selling a $600 to $1,000 gun to call the state for a check. Don’t expect fast service.
Then, given that the state has, in the past, taken six to eight weeks to process a carry permit, don’t expect fast service there either. How long do you think two women will wait before they both nod and adjourn to the parking lot?
