Take a tour of Joe Lawlor's bike commute from South Portland to One City Center.
Casco Bay Bridge >>
South Portland Greenbelt
After crossing Broadway, Joe's ride took him along the South Portland Greenbelt, a paved path for walkers and cyclists that runs along the waterfront to the Casco Bay Bridge.

Though the Casco Bay Bridge has bike lanes and a sidewalk, it proved to be the most unpleasant part of Joe's commute.

West End to Downtown
On the other side of the bridge, the streets of downtown Portland offered smooth riding in spite of some traffic congestion.
The Home Stretch
A short climb from Gorham's Corner to Free Street and the end of the commute is in sight: the One City Center Parking garage, where bike racks offer commuters a secure place to store their vehicles out of the elements.
