BIDDEFORD – Ben Cherry scored the winning goal in the third period Wednesday night as Kennebunk earned a 5-4 victory against Noble-Wells in a schoolboy hockey game at the Biddeford Ice Arena.

Charlie Merry and Tyler Fowles provided two goals each for the Rams (7-3) against Noble-Wells (1-10).

YARMOUTH 7, LEAVITT 1: Alex Kurtz scored four goals in the first period and Yarmouth-Freeport (5-3-1) went on to defeat Leavitt (4-7) at Auburn.

Freshman Connor Lainey scored his first goal with 2:29 left in the first to give the Clippers a 5-1 lead.

Kurtz added a fifth goal in the third period. Eamon Costello provided three assists.

BREWER 16, WINSLOW 2: Tyler McCormick and Kyle Alexander each had hat tricks to lead the Witches (11-1) past the Black Raiders (0-10-1) at Winslow.

Jacob Chapman, Spencer Valley and Tyler White each added a pair of goals for Brewer.

Dayton Bourassa and Jacob Cain answered for Winslow.

MESSALONSKEE 6, BRUNSWICK 1: Sam Dexter scored a hat trick and Travis St. Pierre added four assists to lead the Eagles (9-1) over Brunswick (5-5-1) at Winslow.

James Varney, Jake Dexter and Billy Blake also scored for Messalonskee.

Ryan Maciejewski answered for Brunswick.

The victory was the first for Messalonskee over a .500 team or better since it beat Presque Isle on Dec. 16.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 69, A.R. GOULD 36: Quincy Grace had 21 points and eight rebounds to lead the Seagulls (7-6) past the Bears (6-4) at Old Orchard Beach.

Nick Carlin added 13 points and four assists, and Jeremy Legere had 10 points for Old Orchard.

Zacharia Mohamed scored 17 points for A.R. Gould.

FOREST HILLS 77, PINE TREE ACADEMY 30: Evan Worster had 31 points and 22 rebounds as Forest Hills (10-3) downed Pine Tree Academy (2-9) at Freeport.

Derick Ouellette added 13 points and 19 rebounds for Forest Hills. Matt Turner had 12 points and 12 steals, and Brandon Ouellette added 12 points.

Zach Wilday had 15 points for Pine Tree.

GIRLS’ HOCKEY

YORK 6, CAPE ELIZABETH-WAYNFLETE 0: The Wildcats (11-4) scored four times in the first period and shut out Cape Elizabeth-Waynflete (4-11) at Portland.

After Sammy Stock scored 2:08 into the game, Rachel Yorke added two goals in the first period.

LEWISTON 3, WINSLOW 1: The Blue Devils (7-7-1) scored two goals in the first period and beat the Black Raiders (3-11-1) at Winslow.

Mikayla Brown scored two first-period goals for Lewiston. Sam Cote added a third-period goal and Paige Fontaine had six saves.

Britany Whittaker scored from Brennah O’Connell for Winslow. Jessica Cain had 35 saves.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

SACOPEE VALLEY 32, HEBRON ACADEMY 4: Morgan Sanborn scored 10 points to lead the Hawks (4-8) past the Lumberjacks (1-9) at South Hiram.

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 45, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 43: Charlotte Esancy had 17 points and 14 rebounds for the Panthers (6-6) against Greater Portland Christian (5-5) at Yarmouth.

The Panthers led by as much as 11 in the first half. The Lions came back to take a one-point lead in the fourth quarter, but Chloe Leishman hit both ends of a 1-and-1 to regain the lead for the Panthers, who were 6 of 7 from the line down the stretch.

Morgan Scully led the Panthers with 18 points; Leishman finished with 10. Elaine Beech scored 18 points and Suzanne Gonzalez had 15 for Greater Portland Christian.

POLAND 63, FREEPORT 49: Brittina Maheux scored 16 points and Katrina Seeley added 15 to lead the Knights (5-8) over Freeport (5-8) at Poland.

Poland built a 30-22 lead in the first half and added to it in the second.

Nina Davenport led the Falcons with 26 points.

FOREST HILLS 53, PINE TREE ACADEMY 48: Kori Coro scored 14 of her team-high 19 points in the fourth quarter as the Tigers (10-3) rallied past the Breakers (4-8) at Freeport.

Keely Taylor added 16 points, and Anna Carrier had nine points and 12 rebounds for Forest Hills.

Gentile Sandy scored a game-high 23 points for Pine Tree. Hannah Koestar added 10.
