Greely gets win on goals by Howland, Lavallee and Rogers to beat York, 3-2
Reid Howland, Jarod Lavallee and Austen Rogers scored first-period goals as Greely beat York 3-2 in a boys' hockey game at Dover, N.H.
York (2-3) took a 1-0 lead on the first shift of the game. Greely (2-0) responded as Howland took a cross-crease pass from Kyle Megathlin and wristed home a power-play goal from the left circle.
Lavallee netted the go-ahead goal when he got to a loose puck pushed into the crease by Will Schad and chipped it into the net. Rogers completed the first period scoring, breaking into the zone on a three-on-two advantage and firing to the far side from just inside the top of the circle.
Derek Neal pulled York within 3-2 in the second period. Neal stole the puck high in his defensive zone as the Rangers were attacking on the power play, faked a pair of Greely players at mid-ice and skated in alone to beat goalie Kyle Kramlich between the pads.
Greely killed off three power plays in the third period to preserve the win.
