About 150 people took part in Saturday’s White Cane Awareness Walk to raise money to support programs for the blind and visually impaired in Maine. Sponsored by The Iris Network, the walk was led by Grand Marshal Tom Sullivan, a blind actor and entertainer. The walk began and ended at the Maine State Pier, wending its way through downtown Portland, including Monument Square. The Iris Network endeavors to empower people who are visually impaired and help them to integrate within their communities.
