YORK

YORK PATROLMAN TYLER GAGNE was awarded the Meritorious Service Award for his response to a domestic situation in York last August involving an elderly man trapped in a home with his despondent and suicidal son.

Gagne, a three-year veteran of the department, whisked the 90-year-old father away from the home while coordinating efforts with the York County Tactical Team to attempt to bring about a peaceful resolution.

Though the son later died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Gagne was credited with putting himself in harm’s way to bring the father to safety.
