ROCKPORT — The “Work of the Hand” crafts show and sale at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art in Rockport presents new work by Maine craftspeople.

After a year’s hiatus, the invitational “Work of the Hand” returns to a new venue: Pascal Hall, 86 Pascal Ave., Rockport. The show opens with a Collectors’ Preview and reception catered by Swan’s Way from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. “Work of the Hand” continues at Pascal Hall through Oct. 10; from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Oct. 10; and from 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 9.

Concurrent with “Work of the Hand” are exhibitions at CMCA that reinterpret traditional quilt forms in nontraditional materials and modes of presentation.

This year, about 25 artists will offer art-to-wear clothing, jewelry and other personal accessories, glass and ceramics, furniture, rugs and home accessories, art puppets and more. In addition, there will be a raffle of a framed limited edition lithograph by Alan Magee titled “Ceremony of Innocence,” valued at $1,300. Tickets cost $20 each, and are available at the show and at CMCA. Only 100 tickets will be sold.

Proceeds support CMCA’s exhibitions and programs.

Admission to the Collectors’ Preview Reception is $15 for the public and $10 for CMCA members. Admission to the show is $5, with CMCA members admitted for free.
