The state filed a felony theft charge against Violette Wednesday in connection with unaccounted-for gift cards and his use of turnpike credit cards. A spokeswoman for the attorney general said the charge carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison.

Neither the Attorney General’s Office nor Violette’s attorney, Peter Detroy, have commented on a plea settlement or a proposed punishment that would be presented in court. Detroy said Thursday that Violette will plead guilty but declined to disclose the terms. The AG’s office has requested a plea agreement hearing in Cumberland County Unified Criminal Court.
“This will be a cap plea agreement,” according to a letter sent from the Attorney General’s Office to the court clerk.
The Attorney General’s Office also asked that a sentencing hearing be scheduled for 45 to 60 days after the plea hearing, known as a Rule 11 proceeding.
