Wednesday Walkers

The Wednesday Walkers is an open group of hikers who meet each Wednesday at a different preserve throughout midcoast Maine. Everyone is welcome on the Ovens Mouth East Preserve hike. Enjoy gorgeous views of the Back River and salt marshes. Registration is not required. The group will meet at the trailhead at the end of Dover Road. Let’s Talk Turkey

With the countdown to Turkey Day on, it’s time to look deeper into the bird we celebrate every Thanksgiving. From 1-2 p.m. in the Coastal Room at the YMCA, join environmental educator Tracey Hall in this entertaining investigation into the bird that was almost our national symbol. Limit of 30 attendees. Modern Sawmill

3 p.m. in Searsmont

Join the Georges River Land Trust for a tour of the Robbins Lumber Co. mill in Searsmont, one of the more modern sawmills. Founded in 1881, today the mill is run by the fifth generation of the Robbins family. Tour attendees will be guided through the comprehensive and intricate systems of the Robbins Lumber Co. sawmill. This event is part of Revelry for the River, a celebration of 25 years of conservation. The ticket price, $35, benefits the Georges River Land Trust and must be purchased in advance by calling 594-5166.
