FARMINGTON — Farmington’s former wastewater superintendent who was fired after seven weeks on the job is appealing his dismissal.

In a complaint filed in Franklin County Superior Court, Nicholas Mayhew of Wilton said he was hired in August, but fired Oct. 28 by Town Manager Richard Davis.

The Sun Journal reports that Mayhew says in the suit he was orally terminated without notice and with no hearing on grounds that “things were not working out.”

Mayhew says he did nothing wrong while on the job.

He says his predecessor told Mayhew he didn’t believe he was a Christian and made comments about his association with the Freemasons.

In its court response, the town claims the contention of bias and prejudice is “vague or bare.”

The town’s lawyer says the termination was legal.
