American barleywines tasting at Whole Foods
Whole Foods Market is holding a tasting of American barleywines, a style of strong ale that originated in England, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 25.
The tasting will include barleywines from around the country, as well as some local brews from Rising Tide, Sebago and Smuttynose. This is a 21-plus event, and identification is required.

West End wine walk puts focus on pinot noir
Sommelier Erica Archer will conduct a guided viticultural tasting and walking tour of West End restaurants serving various styles of pinot noir.
A Wine Walk in The West End: The Many Styles of Pinot Noir will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Jan. 25. Guests will taste paired foods, learn tips for pairing food and wine, and hear from the chef/owners of the restaurants.

Robert’s Maine Grill and Rising Tide Brewing Co. are joining up for a Great Food & Craft Beer dinner at 6 p.m. Jan. 23.
