With Maine’s gubernatorial election fast upon us, we’ve reached a time when decent people must compromise for the common good.

The voters are faced with the same situation as four years ago, with a three-way split between Democrat Mike Michaud and independent Eliot Cutler, who share most of the same political goals, while the incumbent, Republican Paul LePage, staunchly opposes those views.

Given this reality, we’re asking Michaud and Cutler to join forces to win this election.

We’re urging both progressive candidates to announce jointly that Mr. Cutler will support Mr. Michaud and that Mr. Michaud will include Mr. Cutler at the highest level in the next administration, utilizing his expertise in economic development.

We ask all voters who don’t want to see Paul LePage win another four years to vote the Michaud ticket. We urge Michaud and Cutler to join their talents to bring Maine back to sensible leadership.
