The polls I’ve read indicate a close election for governor, at least between Democrat Mike Michaud and Republican Gov. Paul LePage, with independent Eliot Cutler still mired in the low numbers.

Cutler has brought us LePage once, and he should not have an opportunity to do it twice.

The current governor has become a national laughingstock, although one can take no satisfaction in this fact. His policies harm the middle class, the working class and certainly the poor.

It is more than late for Cutler to bow out, especially since absentee ballots have already been sent out. It’s time to turn out LePage; it’s time for Cutler to avoid the possible stigma of spoiling the election twice.
