I keep asking people to name three discernible accomplishments attributed to Mike Michaud, the Democratic candidate for governor. Don’t start with an oxymoronic vote for clean water from the Big Labor mill guy. (By the way, independent candidate Eliot Cutler was instrumental in writing the landmark Clean Air and Clean Water acts.)

I also wouldn’t mention Michaud’s record on human rights legislation based on sexual orientation – he voted against it 19 times. And don’t mention the money Michaud took from Monsanto to side against Oakhurst Dairy of Portland in an organic-labeling dispute that shocked “farm to table” enthusiasts and Maine farmers.

Maine has more working farms than any other New England state, and this sector is showing growth. The “farm to table” concept is driving a resurgence in tourism, our No. 1 industry.

Do we really have the patience for Michaud’s evolution to lead this state?
