Alex Winslow has been driving the Zamboni at the Portland Pirates games for about five years. An employee of the Cross Insurance Arena, Winslow says the job is different. He likes the fun of driving the Zamboni on the ice and reconditioning the rink for the Pirates games. “It’s quick and easy work with good pay,” he added. The most difficult part of the job, according to Winslow, is “setting your turns so you don’t miss any spots.”
