JERRY GOODINE is a high-rise painter with Maine Reflections, a company that offers painting, window cleaning and other services – often high off the ground.

“If you see anybody hanging from a building, it’s probably us,” Goodine said.

Right now he’s painting the woodwork around the windows four stories up at 4-8 City Center in Portland. He says the job will take a few more weeks because so far he has only applied the primer coat.

Goodine has been doing high-rise work for two years and says he likes the “freedom – nobody tells me what to do.” The downside of the job? “Rain and wind,” which make it impossible to work.
